Text Formatter - How to format text the way you want
Learn how to use the Text Formatter in workflows to clean, extract, and format text data automatically.
What is the Text Formatter?
- The Text Formatter is a workflow action that allows you to manipulate text strings. You can use it to capitalize names, extract emails or phone numbers from a block of text, split text into parts, and more.
How to Add the Text Formatter Action
- 1. Inside a workflow, click the '+' icon to add a new action.
- 2. Search for 'Text Formatter' and select it.
- 3. Choose the specific formatting operation you want to perform from the dropdown.
Common Formatting Operations
- - Capitalize: Converts the first letter of a string to uppercase (e.g., 'john' to 'John').
- - Lowercase/Uppercase: Converts the entire string to lower or upper case.
- - Extract Email/Phone: Finds and extracts an email address or phone number from a larger block of text.
- - Split Text: Divides a string into multiple parts based on a separator (like a comma or space).
- - Replace: Replaces a specific word or character with another.
Using the Formatted Output
- Once the Text Formatter action runs, it creates a variable with the result.
- You can use this result in subsequent actions by selecting 'Custom Values' > 'Text Formatter' > 'Result'.
